Ninety seconds. Six to eight letters. And across from you, another player's words dropping in one by one.
Anagramme chrono is a word game played in French: build as many words as you can before the clock empties. Two modes, your choice.
One thing before you start: the words to find are French. The interface follows your phone, in English, French, German or Spanish.
THE CAMPAIGN, OFFLINE
A run of levels, with no network and no account. Each level's target score is worked out from what the letters can actually yield, not from a figure fixed in advance.
And the letters are fresh on every attempt: a draw you have already seen never comes back. A failed level is replayed, not recited.
THE ONLINE DUEL, DEFERRED YET LIVE
When you publish a round, it is not a score that travels: it is the timestamped run of your round, word by word. Another player receives exactly the same draw, and during their own round they watch your words appear at the precise second you found them.
So you face someone who is not there, and you watch them play: their total climbs beside yours while the clock runs. No turn to wait for, no final score handed to you at the end. The duel is deferred; it plays out live.
An abandoned round is never published: a truncated run would hand your opponent a duel won in advance. And while nobody has published anything, the app says so rather than inventing an opponent.
WHAT IS ASKED OF YOU, AND WHAT IS NOT
• The campaign asks for nothing: no network, no account, no sign-up. The word list is bundled in.
• The online duel asks for a connection and an anonymous account: no name, no email, no password. It is created only when you open the duel screen — play the campaign alone and you never have one.
• What then goes to the server, hosted in Europe: an anonymous identifier, the nickname you chose in the app, your score and the timestamped list of your words. Nothing else.
• Nothing cuts in: once the round has started, the only thing that interrupts you is the clock. No tracker, no lives to wait for.
• Hints are earned by playing: one letter to reveal per win, one clock freeze every three wins. Nothing is bought.
THE GAME
QUICK DUEL — 6 to 8 letters, 90 seconds, against a local bot. Tap the tiles: validation is instant, from three letters up.
DAILY CHALLENGE — the same draw for everyone, one attempt a day. Hints are switched off there, so the scores stay comparable.
WEEKLY LEAGUE — Qualifiers, Quarters, Semi-final, Final, Prime. Every week the three highest-placed players move up a tier, the last three go down, the points restart from zero. A win is worth 18 league points, a draw 8, a loss 2.
THE SCORING — a word earns its length × 20, plus the value of its letters × 5, and a 40-point bonus from six letters up. The numbers printed on the tiles really count: playing long pays, playing expensive pays too.
THE WORD LIST — 85,535 French forms of 3 to 8 letters, bundled inside the app. Every draw is built from one of them: a complete anagram is guaranteed to exist, even when you cannot find it. A screen tells you whether a word is accepted. It is a list normalised for play, not an official reference, and it may differ from tournament lists.
AFTER THE ROUND — the word that scored highest, the ones that got away, the share of the words you found.
WHO IS ON THE OTHER SIDE, SAID PLAINLY
In quick duel, in the league and through the campaign, the opponent is a local bot, and the app says so everywhere it appears. In the online duel, and only there, it is a real player — their recorded round, not a simulation.
READABLE BY EVERYONE
Urgency is signalled by symbols rather than colour: the game never uses red. Contrast follows level AA, and every tappable surface is announced to the screen reader. Interface in French, English, German and Spanish.
Ninety seconds, one draw, and across from you someone whose words you watch drop. Every second counts.
